Partners

Partnership,
speaking,
advisory.

I am looking for partners through LA28. This page sets out what a racing season costs and what a partnership includes.

Partnership

A season at world level costs around €20,000 before living costs: racing chairs, training camps, flights, physiotherapy, competition entry fees, equipment that wears out and gets replaced, and other costs such as coaching and expert help. My competitive plan runs from the World Championships in Tashkent in June 2027 through the European Championships in 2028, with Los Angeles 2028 as the last highlight of my career.

My own channels are small and I won't pretend otherwise. They are open to a partner as well, they are simply not where the reach comes from. What I bring is the material: twenty years of competing at world level, a governance career running alongside it, and a track record of saying true things on camera. What a partner brings is distribution. When Huawei filmed the work we did together on wearable technology, Wheels of Change reached over 13 million views, 7.7 million on YouTube and 5.7 million on Facebook, on their channels rather than mine. That is the division of labour I am proposing, and it has worked once already.

Terms are defined case by case. I am looking for a small number of meaningful partners, not a shirt full of logos.

My current partners are:

Speaking

Keynotes, panels and workshops, in Finnish and English.

Governance and athlete representation

Broad experience of how administration organises itself and of athlete representation, above all where it actually matters: selection processes, funding disagreements, and balancing stakeholders who want different things. Finding the problems is the easy part. Resolving them takes real work.

Sport to business

Decision-making under constraint, and what elite sport and the systems around it can teach everyday working life and business.

Esa-Pekka's talk at Netprofile's internal training event was excellent. In it he built a superb bridge between sport and the business world. He shared concrete examples from his athletic career: situations where leadership, determination, the importance of recovery and the capacity to withstand pressure proved decisive. He reflected those experiences skilfully against the daily reality of organisations and the challenges of business. The talk was practical, relatable and energising. It prompted discussion and gave us concrete means of applying approaches familiar from sport (coaching leadership, clarifying a shared goal, strengthening mental resilience) to developing an organisation.

Advisory

I do advisory work in wheelchair and assistive technology. With Huawei, a product feature went from athlete feedback all the way to the finished product. I also advise on accessibility and governance questions, where my own lived experience, board work and a business-law student background come together. Earlier I was Secretary General of KY at Aalto University, an organisation with an annual budget over €500,000.

An engagement can be a single sparring session just as easily as a tightly scoped larger project.
